There is nothing more exciting for a business owner than to realize you can attract leads and customers reliably. The stress falls away, you can plan for growth and you can help more people with your products or services. Life is much better when you don’t have to struggle for leads, reinvent the wheel every sale and struggle with your business!
The team at ReferralCandy created this infographic that shows the most common paths to scalable growth. I’m a big fan of #1 (Advertising) because with a bit of thought and testing, you can create as much traffic and as many leads as your business can handle. I have a list of tools I use that you can download here, some of the best ones are free.
I’m also a big fan of #2 (Referrals) because the least expensive customer you can find is one you already have. Keep delighting your current customers and they’ll are likely to be repeat customers and also refer others to you. This technique snowballs and grows over time and can eventually be your sole source of customers if you’re good at it.
I’m not such a big fan of #3 (SEO). Being on the front page of Google for searches is a great place to be, but you can do it with great and engaging content. If you try to use SEO, it can be expensive. The rules also change constantly, which can wipe out your rankings overnight. You need to become an expert, or farm this out to experts. Expect to pay $1,000 / month or more for great results. But that is just the start, then you need to have people click on your link, opt in, etc. That kind of budget will take you far if you use it to skillfully advertise instead.
Which technique do you use? How has it worked for you? Let me know in the comments below!
